A recent poll reveals that voters are significantly more worried about former President Joe Biden’s age than President Donald Trump’s age when looking ahead to a potential 2024 presidential matchup. The survey, conducted by Morning Consult and Politico, showed that a whopping 71 percent of people polled said they were at least somewhat concerned about Biden’s age—which will be 83 in 2024—while just 56 percent of people were similarly concerned about Trump’s age in the same hypothetical matchup.
The results show that Biden’s age is a significantly larger issue than Trump’s for voters, as far as the two president’s respective election prospects go. It is a natural concern, given Biden’s age, since it is likely that he would be entering his 11th year in office were he to run and win in 2024. It is unclear how this will affect the former president’s plans for a potential 2024 bid, though it certainly adds a wrinkle to any potential campaign.
Still, no matter the poll results, Biden, and Trump for that matter, would not have to worry about their age if they do decide to run in 2024. After all, the minimum age for the presidency is 35, meaning that both men would be well within that requirement at the time of a potential 2024 race.
There is still plenty of time for the 2024 race to take shape, so only time will tell whether or not Joe Biden and Donald Trump do decide to throw their hats in the ring. However, it is clear that if they do, the American public’s concern about each of their respective ages will be an issue worth considering.
