News of a pro-Putin regional politician, 27-year-old Sergey Naryshkin, found dead outside his house in the city of Omsk is shocking the Russian political landscape.
The politician was said to have a very close relationship with the president of the country, Vladimir Putin, and had just recently been re-elected as deputy-governor of Omsk.
Naryshkin was reportedly found outside of his house in the morning of June 5th, according to local police reports. After a brief investigation, the local police concluded he had died due to a gunshot wound, making it the 4th murder of a politician in Russia this year.
Though the cause of death is still officially under investigation, many feel it was possibly a politically motivated attack, especially since he was openly known for his pro-Putin agenda.
His death has triggered calls to investigate his death more closely in order to determine the possible causes, and in the meantime, political tensions have only heightened in a country already deeply plagued with numerous unsolved murders of public figures.
